Podcast Feed Requirements

Here is the information required in order to start the process of registering your podcast with various directories like Apple Podcasts.

Important

In addition to this form, you must provide an audio file in order to make the podcast feed valid. We suggest a short ‘promo’ that simply says ” Hi, I’m (host name) inviting you to listen to my/our new podcast (podcast name) coming soon” .

It can be simply cold voice or produced, it’s up to you, but keep in mind that it will be available to the public. It can be in any format, we will transcode it and ensure it meets podcast audio requirements.

Details for the feed

A few sentences to capture the essence of what the podcast is about - it's the description people will see as part of your directory listing. You can submit up to 4,000 characters but some directories will not display that much text
This is the default language of your blog/podcast i.g. English (Canada)
This is the organization or person who owns the podcast.
e.g. https://domain.com/podcast-art.png --- If you are on WordPress, upload your podcast art to your media library, then copy the URL and paste it here. Your podcast cover art MUST meet the Apple podcast art specifications. If the art does not meet the specifications, the feed will be rejected. Specifications are here: https://itunespartner.apple.com/podcasts/articles/design-your-artwork-3059
eg. Vancouer BC Canada
e.g. Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Bi-weekly, Bi-monthly etc If you don't have a specific frequency you can leave this blank
This will appear under the main title of your podcast. For instance, if you podcast is called "Ouimet Presents" the subtitle could be "A podcast by Robert Ouimet"
Up to 4,000 characters. Can be the same as your Feed Description - this field is specific to Apple Podcasts.
If you have multiple authors, you can leave this blank. Apple will use the author name on the blog posting for the episode in question.
This is the address that will be used by the directories to communicate with you if there is a problem with your feed. This address needs to be monitored.
You must select one MAIN category for your podcast. The list of categories is here:https://podcasts.apple.com/us/genre/podcasts/id26 (categories at in BOLD at the top of the list of sub-categories. e.g. ARTS) You can also, but are not required, select up to 2 sub-categories for your podcast.
If most of your episodes are clean, select clean. Individual episodes that have explicit content in them can be marked explicit when publishing.
Episodic: displays latest episode first. Serial: displays latest episode last.
